Partial Solar Eclipse over Banchory

Date
August 12, 2026
Time
6:06 pm – 7:57 pm

Banchory will experience a spectacular partial solar eclipse on Wednesday 12 August, with the eclipse beginning at around 6:06pm, reaching its maximum at 7:03pm and ending at approximately 7:57pm.

It will be one of the deepest eclipses seen from the area for decades, with the sun becoming a striking crescent at maximum eclipse.

You don’t need to travel anywhere special to experience it – just find somewhere with a clear view of the western sky. Remember never to look directly at the sun without certified eclipse glasses. A simple pinhole projector is another safe way to watch the eclipse unfold.
